Enefit Donates 28 Electric Vehicle Chargers to Ukraine

Enefit, one of Estonia’s leading energy companies, is donating 28 ABB Terra 51 (50 kW) electric vehicle (EV) fast chargers to Ukraine as part of its national EV infrastructure modernisation.

These chargers, also known as ELMO chargers, were among the first to be installed in Estonia’s public charging network starting from 2011. While they have now been removed from Enefit’s network due to the end of software support and development by the manufacturer, they remain fully operational and will continue to function effectively in Ukraine without being impacted by discontinued updates.

“We are making advancements in the development of Enefit’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure, with network modernisation being an important component of this process,” said Kelli Toss-Kaasik, Chairman of the Management Board at Enefit.

She explained that the market has evolved with new EV models and broader charging standards. As a result, Enefit is replacing old CHAdeMO-standard chargers with newer CCS-compatible ones that meet the needs of modern vehicles. However, CHAdeMO chargers will remain in specific locations where usage data supports their continued presence.

The transport and coordination of the donation will be carried out by the internationally recognised e-mobility organisation AVERE Ukraine.

This contribution supports the growing need for EV infrastructure in Ukraine and represents Enefit’s commitment to sustainability and international cooperation in clean transport.
